We often get asked do you take dogs ?

Yes we do .

We are not best the people to tell you about what we offer so let me introduce you to Dylan and Whiskie

Hi , we are Dylan and Whiskie and our carers (who like to think of themselves as our owners!) are the owners of the apartments you will be staying in.
Firstly, congratulations on a great choice. There is loads of open space and plenty of opportunities to go for walks and swim in the sea. We really enjoy taking our carers for a long walk along the seafront and chasing a few balls into the sea. We can go on the beach between October and April but in the summer it is a very short walk to Goodrington beach where we are welcome all year.

Just a few tips before you set off from home.

Make sure they bring YOUR stuff as well as theirs. Don’t you find it frustrating when they’ve forgotten your blanket, food dish, favourite ball or, the worse possible scenario, your food!! Yes, it has happened and then we have to settle for some poor substitute … Not here though, we have educated our carers and they provide a bed for us, a food dish, a nice microfibre towel to wipe us down when we have been outside or in the sea, providing they have booked the Meadfoot or Watcombe apartments. There is a bit of formal stuff … stay with me here as this is important for your fellow pooches who will follow in the future.

Here are the rules we need to comply with:
– Ensure all your mess is cleaned up and deposited in the bin
– If you’re wet then get dried off before you enter the apartments
– Don’t get up on the furniture (this really annoys the cleaners)
– Don’t go in the bedroom
– Keep the noise down. We all like a bit of bark now and then but there are other guests who may not appreciate it
– I know you won’t do this, but no chewing anything you’re not supposed to … otherwise you’ll get told off and you’ll have to pay for it!

Your carers will be charges a small fee for us to stay, no where near a s much as they have to pay ! The really great news is some of that money goes to help some of our less fortunate friends who would be homeless if it was not for Animals in Distress . Paignton is a great dog friendly location and you will find that you will be allowed into many of the cafes and restaurants … you may even get a few treats, the Shoreline by the Vue cinema is great for this With great walks, lots to do and many attractions we’re sure you’re going to have a wonderful time.

What can you expect when you stay at Fiveway Apartments?

We are publishing a series of articles which answer questions we have been asked by guests over the last year. Here is the first one.

What type of accommodation are we and is it right for me?

Are we a self-catering offering, a self-service offering or serviced accommodation?

Bed and breakfast or hotel ?

You hear all these terms banded around these days, what do they mean? We cater for the independent traveller. If you want to be greeted by a reception and have someone on call 24 hours a day, we are not for you. If you want to arrive, let yourself in and relax with the minimal of fuss then check us out. In a bright modern apartment with secure fast Wi-Fi and a smart TV you can chill out. You might even have booked an apartment with awesome views across the bay. We provided all high quality bedding and towels. We ask that you don’t take the towels to the beach as we have very red sand which is extremely difficult to get out of white fluffy towels !

If you are not on site what happens if something goes wrong ?

That said if you do have a problem, which occasionally can happen, we are a telephone call away and can usually be on site within minutes to resolve any issues. We have CCTV to constantly monitor the public areas of the building for your safety.

We welcome guests who advise us of anything that does not meet their expectations while they are staying with us. This allows us to put it right while you are there, if possible. Guests who tell us of an issue after they have left do not give us the opportunity to rectify any issues. Things will go wrong. We are human and we employ humans to carry out the many tasks that it takes to provide our very high standards. Until we get to the point of having our operation run by AI enabled robots that have been fully tested, we will make mistakes but constantly work to minimise errors. What about the beds ?

Our guests tell us the most important element of any stay is the bed. Because of this feedback we have UK standard double beds in all our apartments which are firm. Firm is not to everyone’s taste, but it has been proven that they do give you the best night’s sleep. For the third and fourth guests we provide a sofa bed. These, by the very definition, are not as comfy or as wide as a normal bed.

We have a micro climate in the English Rivera so when it gets hot, we provide fans in the apartments. If you like to travel light we provide hairdryers . You will find a fully equipped kitchens if you choose to cook for your self rather than sample any of the restaurants and cafes within walking distance.

Fish and Chips on the Beach

There are lots of reasons to come down to Paignton and one of them has to be the Fish & Chips from the chippy on the Pier!

This is not just any Fish & Chip shop though this has been voted one of the Top 3 in the country!

Fish & Chips are an English Tradition that makes a perfect feast for an evening by the sea. I love mine with lashings of salt and vinegar!

This is one of the many amazing things you can do while staying at our apartments and best of all its only a few minutes walk away. We are pretty much fully booked for August but do have some availability in September if you fancy coming down for a late summer break. You may also want to get your booking in for next year now as we are already taking bookings for 2020!

Green Tourism

Reducing plastic waste is a popular topic these days and one that is close to our hearts at Fiveway Apartments. Our first step was to support local groups, Living Coasts & Paignton Zoo but we also support The Marine Conservation Society
It’s one thing though to give passive support to these organisations so we have now started to look at what we can do as a company to be more proactive.
We now have a stated goal of reducing the amount of single use plastic we consume. Now we know we aren’t going to be able to do it all overnight but there are changes we can implement swiftly. But it’s not just about making changes to plastics they also have to be cost neutral so that we have to be creative in the way we solve problems!
We are also looking at better sourcing of other consumables like for instance providing Devon Tea, reducing the amount of travel miles.
On our own we can’t change the world but we believe that we have a responsibility to at least do our bit and if we can inspire our guests and suppliers to do the same then that impact will be increased.
